I wouldn't listen to them. They hardly give PSP RPGs the scores they deserve.
I still might give it a try, I honestly didn't expect it to do well in the reviews anyway.

RPGfan and RPGamer gave it good reviews.
LOOK! NEVER TRUST GAMESPOT's Reviews. the best thing to do is listen to the overal scor of users and the common users review. Gamespot are horrible reviewers. I have the demo for this game and it's amazing. A good buy for RPG or JRPG fans. Metacritic is good becuase they take reviews from everywhere and combine it and also review for themselves. Anyone looking to get this game should get it.
I don't get gamespot when it comes to PSP JRPG's reviews. First they give FF7: Crisis Core a 9 but give this game a 5. FF7: CCclearlly deserved a 7 or lower. If it wasn't for the some of the characters and story the game would of been utter crap.
>.> GS has lazy people giveing the psp game reviews.and i think the only game for psp that has a 9.0 is FF:CC i dont know why and all the other game are 8.5 and under. anyway i go with the users review anyway
Who is Shiva Stella? Never heard of her. Anyhow, I have played the demo and it's totally cool. A 5.0 score is bit downhearting, though. I guess I'll wait for more player/other sites reviews before buying this. Really need a good RPG atm.
I heard from a big yellow bird that the reviewers roll dice to determine the score of jrpgs that aren't Final Fantasy. . .Anyways, the only problem I had with the game is how easy it is at the end of the game. . . it's ridiculous.
Ignore it. It seems like GS views PSP JRPGs and the PSP as a whole as mostly an afterthought. Look at the other scores; significantly higher.
I don't even think they beat the games they review on PSP, they just play them for 20 minutes, look at the title, and give a random number. CC only got 9 because they looked at it and they were like ''It's Final Fantasy! 10 points! Oh no, the gameplay is somewhat dumb, 9.'' All they do is please fanboys so they can save face. Other than that GS is the greatest Sony-hater site ever (well at least ever since dudes like Alex Navarro left). They're doing the same thing here they did with Brave Story: A New Traveler. Whenever an RPG is not FF, they say it's not original. But the metrosexual characters in every FF game, that's really original...
dissapointing:(
RPGFan:
PSP owners who want a solid, fun, long-lasting, no-nonsense, traditional turn-based RPG will be served quite well with Crimson Gem Saga. 86/100GameZone:
While the characters are not always that sympathetic, it is the gameplay that truly shines here. This is an entertaining and challenging portable RPG. 85/100Gamervision:
Crimson Gem Saga probably won't win any awards for innovation, but it's an enjoyable game from start to finish, and one I had trouble putting down. 78/100Gamespot (this is the lol part):
Crimson Gem Saga's cheery veneer quickly wears away to show a simple, uninspired role-playing game. 50/100Enough said.

IGN gave it an 8.4! I'll be picking this up in a few weeks, IGN is the one place I myself really trust.
IGN said it's a solid old-school RPG that gets it right.
In other words, people who are used to newer RPGs from FFVII and up, probably won't like CGS. But to those who love old school RPGs and new-school alike, it'll be worth getting.
I think it's worth checking out. The Gamespot review seems like the only one that gave it really negative reviews. The other sites seem to like it. I never expected a 9 but a 7-8 seems just about right. Also to note, CGS is co-developed by Matrix Software of Japan who made the DS FFIII and IV remakes as well as Avalon Code.
So old fashioned ''classic'' RPG formula is okay for DS, but not for PSP? What?
''Crimson Gem Saga is a simple role-playing game containing a much more arduous journey than its cheery presentation suggests. Annoying dungeon design and numerous other quirks undercut its functional competence, while a lack of originality and intrigue round out an overwhelmingly bland adventure. The game offers little more than mediocrity and a pleasant visual appeal.''This could beFinal Fantasy III is a simple role-playing game containing a much more arduous journey than its cheery presentation suggests. I think this game deserved the score, it was very, very bland. I have nothing against oldschool RPG's, but just because this game was supposed to follow that formula, does not give it an excuse to have such a pathetic plot, and boring gameplay.
Gamespot reviews are BS. They only look at the title before giving a score. If it's an old franchise that's popular they give high points so they can remain popular. If it's a new title it automatically lacks originality. I can't believe that this POS is the same site Alex Navarro once worked at.
