So Long 3000 Series.

Your time of being homebrew-less is now over. Maybe the 4000/GO model will be unhackable. So Long 3000 Series.
Link? That's what I thought, it's still unhackableSo Long 3000 Series.
Well, anything can be hacked given the proper time. It's a shame. It just means that any headway made on the PSP will be slowed down again.
I cant wait for the PSP2 this time they can attempt to fix the mess that happened on the PSP by forcing a new hardware revision so that people cant use phats and 2000 series which have already been hacked.
Chill, it's alright! :)

Wow, I guess he is right. And by reading some of the comments it seems even easier to hack the 3000. You don't need a special battery just some chicken file on you memory card.I guess it will never stop!!

^This expresses my view on the whole thing. It's a rant of sorts, but not biased or randomly stupid in any way.

I sure hope not cos I'm planning on buying a second-hand PsP phat or 2000 soon. And I won't be able to tell if its been hacked untill I buy it :S
you cannot hack the 3000. but it does have higher resolution, longer battery time, and less loading time
its only been hacked for homebrew. you still cant play iso

Looks like you have the purple light of death. :?
That happens to me while I'm playing Resistance, however it wears off after a few seconds.
what model would this be ??
can u please give us a few specifics? like which model is this? which year was it bought? have you taken it to sony already?

what's at E3

what are you expecting from E3 this year?what's at E3
Im expecting the Long and great list of gamees for the PSP that they said they were going to annouce. I also look forward for them to end this whole PSP 2 or Go crap. I want them to offically say the status on this thing so people wouldn't get all upset or go crazy over JUST RUMORS. Also I would like them to annouce some great PS1 classics release date. (It was confirmed and shown on Joystic that Final Fantasy 7 and a few other PS1 games will come to the PSN in the U.S.) I want a release date now!(They will also most likely show some footage on already annouced games)what's at E3

(Paradise)
As long as they announce some online shooters, then I'll be happy enough.
All I want from E3 is a psp2..............with 2 analog sticks! Sony is that hard?
Either the PSP 2 or the PSP-4000 will be announced. With more GTA, Killzone and God of War games for late 2009/early 2010 releases.
What I hope for:
  • Denial of any new PSP
  • Bunch of new games
  • And it would be awesome if they made a trophy system

I just hope they aren't as addicting/anoyyinh as Achievements. (not sure how they really work on the PS3)...
Trophies for the PS3 are... addicting and annoying lol

Damn.....well whatever. I will try to ignore them....something I couldn't do on my Xbox 360.......
PSP2!!
Release dates for the upcoming games. A decisive stand on the next hardware iteration.
All I want to see is the list of PSP games that Sony is supposed to be announcing.
i hope they'll announce new games for psp
I really hope they have a PSP2, but i doubt it...
A load of new features, like trophies. And i would like to see more of the games that have been mentioned. Socom bravo 3, Motorstorm, LBP, Assassins creed. And any new games that havent been released. WHAT ABOUT NEW KILLZONE!
Yes definetly MOARGAMEZ!!!!1!1 for PsP...and the trophy thingy would be nice too^^, i would like new naruto ultimate ninja on psp or some new awesome rpg games!!!!!!1111
Well, I'm not sure about my expectations, though I'm definitely hoping for a Sly Cooper game for the PSP! That would make this year perfect!
I hope they deny this PSP Go! rumor. Is it really necessary for them to release another PSP so soon? We all know it's not going to have dual analogs if announced so, console heads, stop hoping.I want them to announce a Resident Evil game with online for the PSP and Resident Evil 4 controls. Call it Outbreak File #0. That and Parasite Eve II and Resident Evil 2 on PSN.

Slim or ''Fat'' PSP

ok...so i definitely wanna buy a psp. but i have been hearing some bad things about the slim. and i know there have been many too posts about this, and i have read just about all of them, but they dont give me clear enough answers. What are the problems with the new PSP? Should i just stick with the old version or get the new verion. Do the PSPs have a factory warranty on them in case mine does break i can get it replaced? Thank you in advance for all the help!Slim or ''Fat'' PSP
I heard the psp slim is better across the boardSlim or ''Fat'' PSP
Well i have a slim and i can tell you that if there is anything wrong with the slim psp its the same problems with the fat psp, but to answer your question it depends on the money, if you want a psp nd just a psp, get the core but from what i heard, its a fingerprint problem for 170$, if you want a different shade of psp, get a silver you wont be dissapointed, but all in all it kinda dosent make sense to buy a fat because it would be obsolete and you probably would wish you bout a slim in the future so just get a slim. hope i helped
you might as well buy a new slim one.
Not sure what problems you've been reading about. If it's the stuck/dead pixel problem, the fat PSP has that too. I'd go for the slim unless you want to save some cash. The slim has more internal memory and a tv video out. I don't think the fat version will go ''obsolete'' although I'm sure new games will make use of the extra memory. The extra memory should also help web browsing (i hope).I'm waiting for either the slim ''core'' release or the star wars version. It depends on the review of that game.
alrite thanks alot! ill definitely go for the slim now. o and...does anybody know if the slims have a factory warranty?

they're both very good. the slim has the edge on load times though.
all new systems or handhelds have a year warranty when you buy them
Slim performs better, but the fat is only $99 used, next week at Gamestop with a printable coupon on there website.
alrite thanks alot! ill definitely go for the slim now. o and...does anybody know if the slims have a factory warranty?
factory warrenty?
The gamestop guy asked me to play an extra 15 dollars to put a warranty on it, so when if it did get screwed up. I can go back and get a new one. oo;

I would say buy the older version.
I would say buy the older version.
Well the slim is way lighter, comes in more colors, and load times are faster when processing games, but the downside is that... well, well it feels cheaply made, unlike the phat... when you hold the phat in your palms, it just feels.. well-made and awesome..
yeah but thats not a reason to play the phat instead of the slim, right?
i got the slim PSP and must say that its good but a couple of friends of mine have the original (fat) psp and it does feel more solid..
why even consider the fat psp. The only reason i can think of why anyone would ever buy a fat psp now, would be money issues. if you have no problem with money get the new psp. it doesn't have any problems. its thinner, lighter, faster, brighter, and also can be modded if you seek that.
It just depends on how much you want to spend. The differences between the 2 are so minor that most of what you hear from other people are just opinions anyway.I'd check out the specs and prices on both. Other than that though, I wouldn't trust much of what you hear. People can be pretty biased when it comes to which psp..
The slim may have faster loading times, but i like the fat. The slim leaves the LCD screen vulnerable while the fat's screen is protected.
Slim has *kind of* better hardware.I like my slim though, it's easy on the hands.
I would say buy the older version.
Please don't bump old threads.

this game is so under rated. i think its a top notch game for the psp. i read the review and it got a 7 on GS. i think it should be 7.5. yes the camera is can hinder the gameplay quiet a bit, but even then with the amount of combo's and Force powers that you have, and the amount of content this game has, its a real blast to play it. the story is also real interesting to follow and the lead character has a really cool attitude and he displays it by being a real dark side character most of the game. he has the edge to it that the main character in resistance retribution have and i really enjoyed that fact. if you have this game for the console then you can skip it for the psp. if you never played the console version then definitely buy it. if you liked GOW then this game is very similar. most of the bosses are finished with an action scene of button pressing just like GOW, but the good thing is he is quiet brutal and its fun to watch each of the scenes. too bad there is no blood/gore but the finishing sequence is gory by itself even without blood. there is also a lot of mid battle conversations with bosses and sometimes button pressing as well that can damage a boss after a mid battle scene which is also fun. there are so many combos to pull off and so many uses of force abilities that its never boring. lots of environmental objects you can destroy or use the force to pick it up and slam it on a bad guy which is always fun. to be able to pick up a bad guy in the air and choke them is so cool. you have lighting at your disposable and a light saber that goes through things like cheese. i played Wolverine: origins for psp before this game and was bored within half an hour. my god how can they screw up wolverine so badly and a game thats a year old be 10 folds better than wolverine which is recent. its just sad...back to this game, if you can deal with the camera (which tries its best to fix it self whenever you move) and you can also deal with the long load screens (its not as bad as they put it on gamespot), then this game is definitely Good. pick it up and unleash your force like no tomorrow.star wars the force unleashed for psp (r ...

well i really wanted other people's view on this game, those who have played it. i am sure now the GS mods are gonna lock it cuz it does not promote a discussion.. i posted my opinion on it, so others who did play it can post theirs. i am sure there are a view who hated it or loved it..

I like it. Graphics could of been better but I like it.
I have bought the game, but I have yet to play it :)
I give the game an 8. The worst things about it , are the loading times , they are really annoying and note thati am a quite patient man, and the graphics. The in-game graphics are good but the cutscenes could be so much better...The camera hasn't annoyed me...It's an action game , you keep moving so there is no problem...Despite these flaws , it's the best Star Wars games on psp (Ok , Battlefront RS is great , but i prefer lightsabers over guns) and one of the bestaction games you could buy on the system...The story is epic , the Force powers make you feel like you have absolute control over your enemies...There is also much replay value...The story mode is quite long with many crystals, hilts and holocorns to find , and the Force Unleashed mode is probably the best reason to buy the psp version instead the ps2 or theds one...So yes, it is underated...A must for any SW fan owning a psp...
yea this game is underrated, they should give this game at least 8
I hate this game - I don't know why, but it appeared to me that it would be better to sit in a chair and do nothing than play it.
I agree with you all the way this game is top notch espacially for true Star Wars fans! The extra content on the psp should have raised the rating atleats by 1.0I beat it 8 times and couldn't stop playing it, it really was amazing!

A microfiber cloth, you usually get them with a screen protector
any cloth that won't leave any fibers or dust. stay away from any paper products.
Yah like someone above stated microfiber cloth probably is your best best. Lol I always use a soft towel and windex though, done that for 3 years now without harming it.
microfiber cloth. Game Crazy sells a blue one. don't get the GameStop one. it scratches the screen
But what is the best way of cleaning all psp except screen if you had a long sweaty play with dirty hands? :D I get this problem often
When you buy screen protectors they'll include a cloth that won't scratch it.
I actually opened mine, cleaned the inside, and it looked a lot cleaner. Got me a couple more dollars towards 3000.

That's a really cool Final Fantasy bundle! I'm pretty sure that it would sell quite well in the USA, as long as it were advertised. :D As for the Hannah Montana and Rock Band bundles, those are cool as well, because these will most likely interest a variety of people. In general, I think that these bundles are a good idea. Sony PSP bundles have been big sellers for Sony in the past, and that's why they continue to have them. :DSony PSP Dissidia Bundle for the US!??/U ...

Pretty neat bundle. If I was getting a PSP now, I'd probably definitely go for it.But I'll be sticking with my Darth Vader PSP, which makes me even stronger with the Dark Side of the force than I already am ^,^

Well I have asked numerous 3000 series owners and they said you don't even notice them or they aren't even there. I wish the bundle would have had the special PSP that Japan had. That would have really sold me to upgrade becase I hate how the Red GOW PSP looks, but the silver one is just as boring of a color.

Questions About PS1 Games On The PSP

So I see Playstation has released the PS1 classic Spyro: Year Of The Dragon for the PSP. I want to get it because that was one of my favorite PS1 games, but I have a few questions first.

    1. How is the transition from PS1 to PSP for these classic games? I imagine the camera might be hectic because of the lack of a second analog stick. And if it is like that for PS1 games on the PSP, I may reconsider getting Spyro.

    2. This may sound stupid, but I am a little confused about the info of the PS1 games in the PS store, they all say something about not supporting memory cards. Does this mean I can't save my game after playing?

    3. What is the official PS1 emulator? Is it something I need to get before playing PS1 classics on the PSP? If so where I am I supposed to get it?Questions About PS1 Games On The PSP
    1. It works well, the screen is smaller if it is fit to the standard resolution but you can stretch it full screen. It terms of gameplay they make it work, i have one of the Spyro's cause they were one of my favorite ps1 games and I haven't noticed anything negative in the translation.2. You can save your game after playing, you download them to your memory stick, games save on the the memory stick.3. You download it on the psp from one of the updates, you don't buy anything physical for it or pay extra it is all free.

  • Great games for the PSP to buy.

Hey, I have had a PSP for a while now, but only played a few games. Since then I have not played it in a long time due to the fact that i haven't found a game that kept my interest for too long other than GTA: VCS and Burnout. Does anyone have any suggestions for games that are fun and will last a long time? Thanks
Great games for the PSP to buy.
I know what you mean, and one game i recommend is Ace Combat X. I had never played an Ace Combat game before, and now I have over 45 hours in this game. More than my current VCS game. You wont be disappointed.Great games for the PSP to buy.
monster hunter freedom 1 and 2
I played the demo for the Ace Combat on my Xbox 360, and loved it, so it might be fun on PSP as well. As for monster hunter, I have heard good things, so i'm considering getting that too. Thanks all :D
yeah idk the only game im looking forward to is Final Fantasy Tactics.
I just picked up Syphon Filter up at Walmart for $10...can't argue with that! Great handheld shooter!

I'll echo the Jeanne D'Arc and Syphon Filter goodness. I'll also throw in a nod to D%26D Tactics - if you dig the PnP version. It's much better than the review here lets on IMHO. I logged around 50hrs on my first playthrough, and I plan of quite a few more trying out various class combos and such.I have many hours of fun spent with Field Commander just playing downloaded scenarios.I gotta pick up on of the Monster Hunters...
    Jeanne Arc,Killzone,Syphon Filter %26 Battlezone
There's:Jeanne D'Arc, Monster Hunter Freedom 2, Kingdom of Paradise, Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, Gurumin, Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, Killzone: Liberation, Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters, Daxter, Pursuit Force, Crush, Lumines I %26 II, Socom:Fireteam Bravo 1 %26 2 and so forthThe ones underlined are RPGs, which would be the genre to look for when concerning long games.
Dead Head Fred seems good, but I just started it. Puzzle Quest and Crush are both great games, also.
metal gear, Jeane d' arc, Brave story, Dead Head fred.... just some examples...
Dead Head Fred seems good, but I just started it. Puzzle Quest and Crush are both great games, also.
nice, u got Dead head fred too. I love this game, but the combat system is a liitle weak. But the cut scence and voice acting are top notch. Really funny to at times. So far so good.
Get GTA Vice Sity Stories, man. Now thats a great game to buy and of course to play.http://s1.bg.darkpirates.com/c.php?uid=16703
Brave Story new traveler, great music, great graphics, great storyline simply perfectTekken DR, Coded Arms, Naruto Ultimate ninja heroes, power stone
Coming soon, Disgaea afternoon of darkness, Coded arms Contagion, silent hill origins
I also like GTA: VCS it was great it was actually the second game I beat on PSP first was Twisted Metal: Head On. I am currently playing Chili Con Carnage and it is great! a lot of shooting and destruction. Gamespot gave it an ok review but I would review it much higher. Oh well great game i would reccomend it.
Given that GTA and Burnout are games that you enjoy, I'd say you should go for something like Daxter or Ratchet and Clank: Size matters. They are solid action games.
I'll probably try out Syphon Filter, Dead Head Fred, one of the rpgs mentioned. Personally I can't wait for Oblivion on psp and the God of War. I loved Oblivion on the Xbox 360, and have always heard good things about God of War. Thanks again for all the suggestions!

If you want long games, you should look into the rpgs (although personal taste might stop you here).I'm currently loving FF:T (the only game I've played in a long time where I'd halfway botched up my chars once I started feeling comfortable with the game mechanics).

Lag got pretty bad at certain points but if you enjoy the genre you can probably look past it..
Syphon filter: Dark Mirror...keep in mind Resistence Retribution uses basically the same engine and simmilar controls and is good (overrated) but a decent game. Brother in Arms would be a rental or used buy. More of I have no games to buy let me pick that game up now.
i think i'll buy Syphon Filter: DR, koz there's no Logan's Shadow, no Resistance and no Medal Of Honour at my place... I love RPG's but FF 1 (remake) makes me wanna slam my psp to the wall... and FF VII:CC too expensive...

Will this work for my PSP Slim?

Hey guys, recently I've been in need for more memory in my PSP so I was going for about 16gb's of space and ran across this:PhotoFast MicroSDHC to MS PRO DUO AdapterSanDisk 8GB microSDHC Card Cl@ss 2 (Gamespot won't let me load link)I heard with the Photofast adaptor I can convert to MicroSDHC cards into a Memory Stick Duo. Will the SanDisk 8GB MicroSDHC Card C1@ss 2 work for my PSP? Does it matter of the cl@ss number? I am planning on getting two of these memory cards.Thanks. :)Will this work for my PSP Slim?
yes it works, I have one with a 16gb Sandisc microsdhc, and it's awesome

class 2 is the transfer speed, mine is class 2 and works just fineWill this work for my PSP Slim?
yeah it works for slim, just don't try using it with phat (1000) since it will stop working, because the phat has a higher voltage for it's MMS reader.
Thanks for the replies, but does it matter what Cl@ss it is?EDIT: Also, is MagicGate supported? Sorry for the questions! :o

    Video Output Cable Release?

Anyone know when it will be released? Googling it didn't do much for me.Video Output Cable Release?
It was suppose to come out this wend. But I still can't find them anywhere.Video Output Cable Release?
Target has them. i got some today and they had several on the shelf. ---I did find out though that having component inputs on a standard definition tv is not enough to be able to play games. You also need a tv that has 'progressive scan capability' which i guess is an HDTV to be able to play games.
Anyone know when it will be released? Googling it didn't do much for me.
In addition to the sources that others mentioned, Fry's Electronics and CDUniverse.com have them.
    how much is it?
The normal video output cable was released yesterday in www.game.co.uk with the PSP( separate )it only lets you watch images and videos butthe component cable for playing games will be released next friday 21/09/2007 in the UK.
sometime this month, I think. They're supposed to sell for $14.99, give or take.

Dirge of Cerberus didn't have a bad story...just if you got the US edition we were cheated out of content (the Japanese edition even had online...as well as more content in story...) and the combat could have been a bit better.

    Gameplay Video!!

From what I've seen, BBS is sticking with the standard Kingdom Hearts gameplay- but adding some enhancements to the combat- mostly new abilities such as that 'gun-mode' we've seen. The main difference is that there will be three characters to play as- and each one will have a different focus in terms of gameplay. For example, Terra's gameplay is almost all about combat, while Ventus' gameplayfocuses moreon platforming. We're not sure what aspect Aqua's gameplay is going to focus on though.
Chances are I'll be picking this one up when it eventually comes out. Though, I'll have to take a refresher course on the story... it's been awhile and I don't remember much of it.
    wow

Do you use the ad-hoc feature?

Personally I play Tekken: DR (T6 will be awesome! :) )ad-hoc with some of ny friends nearly every week but does anyone else?Do you use the ad-hoc feature?
Me and my friend both own PSP's, have the same taste in games, but NEVER use the ad-hoc feature :( It's just not as convenient for us as it would be to play online, since her and I both have important things to do throughout our day and the only time we'd be able to play together is at night when neither of us can visit each other.Do you use the ad-hoc feature?
I use to use it with Tekken but not anymore. I pretty much the only with a PSP out of my friends.
same here, i never use ad-hoc
I use ad-hoc every week. Usually Killzone and MGS : PO...Fortunately , more games supporting ad-hoc are coming. Army of Two : The 40th Day and Obscure : The Aftermatch...Actually , Obscure is the game i am most looking forward to,after Agito. A co-op survival horror game on psphas always been my dream...
not really unless im crashin at my friends place. we only have one game thats the same. (SWB renegade squadron) besides i like online play best. more challengeing n stuff
No, don't exactly have anyone to play with. The only person I would probably play it with is my brother but he lacks a PSP.
Yeah I do, especially when playing Tekken w/ my cousins and friends.... I also use it for NFS: Carbon, Coded Arms: Contagion, Resistance: Retribution, GTA and many more... But I only get to use ad - hoc WHEN there's somebody to play w/ not always.... When there's an opportunity....
None of my friends has a PSP, so, I never used the ad-hoc feature.
Sony should support Wi-Fi or infracture more. More people use that more than Ad-hoc, maybe support both but seriously Infracture is used more from what I have seen. (Plus me and whoever has the case where they don't really have anyone to play ad-hoc with has Inracture)

Like for example Monster Hunter and Phanst Star Universe are Ad-Hoc. Both games have fun multiplayer (and possibly the best way to play them) but if you don't know anyone with a PSP then you can't enjoy that feature. I have ''Field Commader'' and no one hacks that because there's no one PLAYING. Humans are so pathetic in their need to be judged just a little ''better'' than the person standing next to them... my kill ratio in MoH is terrible because I wanted to play online so much that I endured God-Mode panty-wastes to do it for a bit, but no longer. The end result is boredom and apathy (not caring about my score or involvement in the ladders or any of it), and I don't think that's what Sony wants to be known for - Though, to those of us who are ''in-the-know'' they are already, in ways...Sad, sad part of the little system. No wonder Sony has turned a cold shoulder to it. And on the cusp of going to an all-download Net-based sytem, too... duh. This is like Sony adding motion-sensing (like one company already has) and a download store-central-user-hub for it's consoles (like another company already had for the better part of a decade beforeSony jumped into the game)... too little too late to the party.

Vice City is such a more active and fun enviroment to play in.POLL: ''Liberty CIty Stories'' v ...
    I prefer LC Stories.
The main advantage LCS has over VCS , is that it has a bigger and much more interesting city. There are also some good ideas , such as the assasins who are trying to kill you...But VCS has more vehicles (planes etc) , there is the ability to swim , to bulid your own criminal empire , have your own gang...I voted VCS but it's a hard decision really...Both are great games, but VCS feels like a more complete GTA game...
Like aggelos6 said, Libirty City Stories' advantage is that the city is bigger than Vice City Stories'. I do perfer Vce City Stories because there is much more to do, more, vehicles, longer missions, and you can swim!
I prefer Liberty City cause i want to be a part of the mob. But VCS is cool, you can have business empire and I think VCS mission is more than LCS
I prefer VCS. Liked the environment there, the ability to build empire, the gang fights, and IMO, Vic looks cooler than Toni.
    LCS
it was a hard desision. i played lcs first and it was great because liberty city is huge, there's great looking cars and a very good story. but when i played vcs it was dissapointing that vice city is smaller than liberty city and there the story isn't so good. but i chose vcs because you can officially fly helicopters, you can swim, you can create a business empire and the graphics are better than the original gta vc game
Hey everyone, sorry this is a little off topic, but is it just me or does LC stories have some frame skipping (actually alot of frame skipping) while playing? I have 2 copies of the game and they both have the same problem, other games work just fine and its actually quite fast, so i doubt its my psp. Anyone else got the same problem?
    VC's got my vote.

Star Ocean: Second Evolution [Spoilers a ...

I've finally cut my way to the end of Second Evo, and am in the process of taking down the Ten Wise Men. Six of them have already fallen and now I'm up against Haniel and Michael. The thing is, they rip me to shreds each and every time I go up against them. The Wise Men I'd fought to this point didn't give me too much trouble, but H %26 M are on another level. So what I was wondering was, even with all my characters around level 80, am I still woefully underpowered? Can the last Wise Men (not just H %26 M but Lucifer and Gabriel as well) be beaten at this level of strength, or do I have many hours of level grinding ahead of me?Star Ocean: Second Evolution [Spoilers a ...
hey dude, hows it going? My friend had the same problem as you and he was level 120, i was only 60 and I had already finished the game. The tactic with H and M is that you cant stick to ur group cuz i believe M does this like arrow like move that petrifies ur whole party right? well as long as u got at least rena equipped with the amulet that makes her immune to petrification she can heal everyone back up, as long as u dont get caught in the move. Also my setup was Claude, Rena, Ashton, Noel where noel and rena both had the condition cure spell. Theyre pretty easy, just that the petrification is a one hit KO, L and Gabriel are easier than them but maybe you might have some trouble with Gabriel as he does this aura of shadow spell (tbh i dont know the name, its been awhile since i played) that does like 1000 per 0.1 seconds if ur caught in it. Good luck hope u made sense of this :PStar Ocean: Second Evolution [Spoilers a ...
Just spam Mirror Blade with Claude on Michael and after that it's an easy battle  And don't worry, Lucifer is a push over, beat him in under 2 minutes.I was around level 75 I think.
For one, equip everyone with an amulet of flexibility (the one that blocks against stone) if you haven;t already. That will make the battle easier. And I would then focus on killing Michael first, because his flame moves can be devestating. And make sure you are using killer moves that can hit multiple times, such as Claude's mirror slice or his double slash. And as for the other two Wise men afterwards, I actually found Lucifer to be quite easy. As long as you can survive his wind attack, he should be able too go down without much hassle. You can always equip accessories that halves wind damage, such as a green beryls, which I believe do half wind damage.Gabriel, on the other hand, is much more challenging than Michael and haniel. Gabriel has many lethal attacks and spells, that if you do not prevent, can obliterate your characters. I would highly recommend finding a pair of bunny shoes, which if you are lucky, you can win at the bunny races in Fun City. Bunny shoes, when equipped, make a character much MUCH faster in battle. There are other ways to get these bunny shoes; you can pickpocket certain people and get them (I don't know who though, I just know you can after reading a guide), or there is an optional place you can go to, that will open up once you reach the final save place before gabriel.
Thanks for the advice folks, it looks like judicious use of Claude's Mirror Blade might give me the edge I need (I think I'd seen this mentioned in a Gamefaq walkthrough as well). I think I'll put in a bit of level grinding to be safe, gird my loins, and then we'll see what happens...

    PS3 Ad-Hoc Party

I say a list of PSP games that are compatible with Ad-Hoc Party on the PS3. I wasn't sure because there may be a difference between the US and Japanese versions of the game.

I don't really want to be bothered keeping up with all the weird custom firmware things. I'm fine using the PSP in a normal capacity, so yeah, any help would be appreciated.
Updating a ''PSP'' is no different than updation normal firmware.

besides, you can get it do do just about anything.
Nevermind, I figured it out. I know they don't like any references to stuff like that in the forums, but this is a thread about getting rid of that stuff. To that end, this was the link that helped me:http://www.instructables.com/id/SYN63EKF9052AQ2/

    final fantasy help

I need to know how to lvl up your magic level in Final Fantasy 1. Do you just gradually use spells by grinding of wht?final fantasy help
Do you mean level up the magic spells themselves? Or gain more MP?

If you want higher leveled magic spells, you'll just have to buy em in shops. For increased MP, you'll just have to level grind.final fantasy help
you dont level the spells up you have to buy more powerfull versions of the spells you already have
You buy the spells from shops and such.
But to gain magic levels, I'm pretty sure you use the spells. That's how I always leveled up.

Well...the game is a remake of an older Castlevania game, ''Rondo of Blood''. At that time Castlevania games were level based, not an open map. Sleeper Hits?

hello im new to the psp world and i was wondering if there were any great games that came in under the radar?Sleeper Hits?
Almost every Game lol. As far Hidden Games go they are: Prinny: Can I Reallu Be a Hero?, Capcom Classic Collections Remixed on Reloaded, Reel Fishing: The Great Outdoors (Patience is needed, young grass hopper), NBA Street Showdown, Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command or Field Commander if you like Stradegy. there is alot mroe but thoese are the ones I have played and know about. God Of War, Resistence, and other games aren't exactly hidden gems but many have found them to be good. I feel they are Overrated but decent games none-less.Sleeper Hits?
In my opinion, the PSP is pretty much nothing but hidden gems, which is why it's so easy for both PSP owners and haters alike to think that the PSP has no games. Here's a list of some of the games I'd consider hidden gems
    • Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror

Quite a few to choose from.Off the top of my head, here goes..Mx vs ATV: On The EdgeValhalla Knights 2Warhammer 40k Squad CommandField CommanderDungeons and Dragons TacticsSwat: Target LibertyForce UnleashedThe WarriorsGun: ShowdownTenchu: Shadow AssassinsAll I got for now..
If you want a racing game for the PSP, then I HIGHLY recommend Sega Rally Revo! It's one of the best racing games that I've ever played!
    Here's a few I liked:

beats (it's cheap and fun music game).

Syphon Filter (any of them are great if you tweak the controls).

Midnight Club LA Remix (best street racing game out there for PSP).

    Crush (best puzzle game).

Silent Hill 0rigins (creepy and fun).

    Jeanne D'arc (easily accessible RPG).

The Warriors (great beat 'em up).

    Echochrome (second best puzzle game).

Death Jr (not great, but a decent action/platformer).

DJ Max series (hard but interesting music game).

    Plus much more...

    Silent Hill: origins my impressions

Hello, I just bought silent hill origins and a first time SH player. I really like the game so far. It reminded me of RE series from ps1 console back in the day. I even tried playing it in the dark with headphones on and it was very creepy at times. I read a few reviews by players on how the game is too short. Can someone give me an idea how long it will take to finish from start to finish if you play it and not explore every little detail in the game? how hard is the game in beating bosses? i was looking for a creepy game for the psp and this game fits this genre perfectly. critics review are bad though but i think they fail to realize some people don't care for new innovative things and wants things that actually works and worked in the past. a psp game to have above average graphics, music, and suspense should be a 8.0+ game. combat sucks but this game is more of exploring the world rather than fighting all out. Silent Hill: origins my impressions
How about making that into a review.Silent Hill: origins my impressions
Silent hill: Orgins -- GET it or SKIP it?!

OK since I am playing a silent hill game for the first time i will not be biased and compare it to SILENT hill games made in the past. First of all SH: O is a horror/action game for the psp with lots of exploring to do in a town called silent hill. The song at the beginning is a song called O.r.T by Mary Elizabeth. If you are a fan of video games music, look it up on you tube and you will probably end up liking it. I have played resident evil 1/2 for ps1 back in 96' or 97' and this game felt just like that. You go inside a building. you explore the inside of that building, go from room to room, look around for items/weapons/puzzle hints and will come across monsters every now and then. Every encounter will get your heart beat running the first few times at least since the music picks up. By the way, the music and environment in this game is absolutely perfect for a horror genre. It might have been done in the past and most of you probably seen it before, but for me it felt like a great experience. The combat system is sluggish. There is delay when you punch and there is no blocking either. The melee combat could definitely get better in the future but It didnt bother me at all. After pummeling a monster with your bare fists or a melee weapon of your choice from the environment, you get to ''finish'' the downed opponent by just hitting one button. If you don't do that they get back up and you fight all over again. There is a lot of doors to open. Lot of the times you will be running into locked doors/jammed doors that can be opened later on as you progress. you will also be checking the map a lot and the map is very good and precise. you also mark the doors that you have explored or you did not explore on the map so that way you don't have to memorize which door you have not tried in the past in your own memory. There is also the ''other world'' that you can switch to by touching any mirrors in the game. you can go back and forth from that mode and normal mode as many times you want whenever you want. there are also firearms in this game, but you are better off saving all your bullets to use in boss fights. i highly recommend this game to people that never played a silent hill game or horror genre games before in consoles. This game is also for people that are looking for something different. This game has quite a number of puzzles as well that you have to be patient in order to solve. most of the puzzles solutions are on you tube so you won't have difficulty solving them provided you are OK with puzzles. those puzzles are things you pick up along the way as you explore the world of silent hill and most of the items can be found as you explore. If you have played silent hill games before then there is almost nothing new for you in this game besides getting additional story back ground that sets you up for silent hill 1. on a 10 scale 10 being highest, 1 being lowest)

    Gameplay: 7

    graphics:8.5

    story: 7.5

    music: 9

    level of difficulty: above medium

replay value: could play it once again after finishing the game all the way through but i wouldn't want to play for a 3rd time

hours of gameplay: its a short game, most people will finish it between 5-10 hours if they play without breaks and they use walkthroughs if they get stuck.

buy it if you find a 2nd hand copy for cheap. its good to have this in your collection and friends will definitely be amazed by it if they never saw a silent hill game before

this game is probably not one for the roads or in between classes. play this game in a dark room with headphones and your door closed, you will get scared.. and the best part is.. its a PSP game that scares you!

    '
Man i have to admit i liked your review (seriously). Even that was my first SH game, and i enjoyed it.

As for longiviety i think it took me around 7-9 hours to complete this game but then i played it while looking in every nooks/corners.

    happy gaming
I loved silent hill origins and wrote a drunken review on this very website, it includes horrible spelling and punctuation . I've been a fan since the first Silent Hill played them all as they came out and loved them all (was a little dissapointed with 4 but played the crap outta it.)I think gamespot is a little obsessed with ''NextGen'' and tend to think old school = crap. but of course there are still plenty of us out there playing our old Super Nes and Genesis Emulators and waiting for the next traditional sonic game etc.Not everyone feels comfortable relearning how to play every game some people just wanna relax after they have a hard day at work etc.
I really liked your thoughts...why haven't you made it into a review yet?My only argument is that while its a good game, it's honestly not meant for a ''portable exerpience.'' After all, many people have pointed out that you have to have headphones %26 be in the dark. I've tried playing this on roadtrips and I quickly loose interest in it. Usually it's late at night %26 when I'm to lazy to go into the living room do I actually play this game. Can't wait for SH: Shattered Memories!
my save file says 6 hours to beat, but that translates into two whole weeks of playing it

Game is really creepy, which is awesome, combat is like that on most of the silent hill games, only on this one the melee weapons you find, break.

I played it on daylight with headphones, still was scary as hell, bosses aren't that though, the game is a bit more about the puzzles and exploration. For me it was the first silent hill game I ever beated, I really liked it, tried to get into the other ones but never did

There is a nice range of games and replablity and worth getting. Reloaded also has some good games and has Street Fighter 2. I recommend getting both of them but get Remixed first. Actually, I've bought all my umds used (ranging from 5-12 bucks), some even free w/ buy 1 get one free days at Gamestop. Movie quality is really good. Sound depends on what you use. My choices range from the standard white earphones from Sony - my 500w Pioneer receiver . You just lose out on the extras that you would normally get on a standard DVD (some don't even care about them in the first place). And while it's true that you can rip a DVD movie onto a computer an then to a PSP memory card. I have heard some complain of slightly poor video quality. The other thing is that instead of cramming movies onto a memory card, you can put them away after viewing and save the space for other things such as game saves, demos, music , photos or whatever else you may want.

It depends. Don't excpect any bonus features. I would recommend Hancock, though. I must say that I actually just copy my dvds (which I have obtained by legal means, and own) and compress them and convert to mp4 and put it on my psp that way. Besides, the PSP UMD isn't so Universal.
    I just have a couple:

Batman The Movie: funny and silly. Has some bonus features.N

Ren %26 Stimpy Vol. 1: classic. No special features.

Too bad around here good UMD collections are a rare find.

And thanks to this year, I'm going to love it next year, and the year after that, and the year after that, and probably won't stop loving it as new features are added.I'm really hoping Sony makes a new PSP and adds features that will let me replace my laptop. I'd love to write programs with it, and I'd love to use it as a phone too or as various other things. As long as it's still a gaming device, all of the added features will just make it better and better. I never liked carrying various other devices around to do the things I normally do.
I love my PSP and I wish there were more games being made for it. But at least, for an RPG fan like myself, there are a lot of great games if you look for them. The only thing I have against my PSP is that it's old (a 1000 series) and the battery no longer works when unplugged from the adapter. But it's been through a LOT, so the fact that it still works has to say something about the quility.
i like my psp quite a bit and use it almost every day. I use it for checking my email sometimes, mp3s, videos, and of course games. The only problem is they haven't been releasing many new games for it lately and the older ones don't drop in price very fast. one of the best purchases i've made in the past few years.
i like the system a lot but i wish they had better games.

Yes I do, plentiful RPGs to choose from. I enjoy it very much.
I don't think you are asking the right question. I like my PSP, it is a nice piece of hardware, but I really dislike the lack of support and games that are put out for it. Sure there are some great games out for it, but it still lacks a viable game catalog. That is where the DS has surpassed the PSP in many ways. The DS, as a piece of hardware, is not all that impressive, even after its two redesigns, but the variety of games and the constant release of third and first party titles make a better gaming platform.... at least in my mind it does.
i dont like my psp, it broke -_-''
    50-50

I just want more RPGs and IN ENGLISH FFS.
It is a great system. I really enjoying using it.
Yeah i love the PSP. Just need a new one because the 100 Model I have is way past it's prime. Though that was to be expected buying a used model that's already seen four years before me. :P

    Playstation Network?

My PSP is version 5.03 and will not allow me to create a account on Playstation Network. What version do you need to create a Playstation Network account?Playstation Network?

I imagine it's detecting that you don't have the very most recent version; if I were Sony, I'd always require people be up to date to do that.

Why WoW should be released on the Sony P ...

As most of you know, Sony is completely getting rid of the PSP UMD. By doing this, load times will lessen and more importantly size limitations are no longer a problem. Now, we've seen that the PSP can handle games like Untold Legends Brotherhood of The Blade. It has decent graphics at pretty much the same standard of WoW, and a fairly large open ended world. The game only used up about 2/10ths of the PSP UMD. With the UMDs out of the way imagine how much bigger the game could be made. Better still...imagine World of Warcraft. WoW with Burning Crusade and Wrath of the lich king, at its smallest is around 6Gbs in size.I've seen what PSP hackers can do. They've developed a program which allows them to play PC games through their PSP...including WoW!Picture this: World of Warcraft released on PSP with slightly less graphical quality so it runs at full speed. Sure, it would take up a lot of space of the PSP/memory stick but WoW on the PC is a huge success with well over 10million players online and so I'm sure that without a monthly fee or with at least a cheaper monthly fee there could be even more players online and also, it would get Sony millions more PSP sales. We've all seen that the PSP is capable of such a thing so why doesn't it happen?Controls wouldn't be an issue as there is a mini PSP keyboard available. :PPlease reply. Why WoW should be released on the Sony P ...
...That will never happen my friend. Why WoW should be released on the Sony P ...
That's the exact reason why I made this post. :P It could happen but for some reason it wont happen.
Control limitations alone makes sure this can't happen.
WoW has a much more expansive world with few or no loading times (I don't know exactly) and 6gigs is as you said an AWFUL LOT of space. WoW wouldn't be very possible on the PSP without make the game utter crap or soemthing. I think it should just stay on the PC because thats where it belongs. Also, I'm going to assume lag issues would be a huge problem, despite a bunch of different servers.

I won't believe it until I see it. I don't think it's a very good move at this point, in a similar way that releasing an entirely new iteration of the hardware isn't advisable. The 3000 was just released and many consumers don't want to relinquish having a physical copy of a game.I don't think the PSP would provide the control that a game like WoW requires.

I never said it was going to or that it was rumour....I just merely suggested it to see what others think.
They didn't play WoW on the PSP. They made the PSP act as a controller for WoW while it was playing on their computer and then the image projected on the PSP. The computer was running everything. Another thing. The PSP isn't powerful enough to run WoW. Think of it. WoW lags on a PC which is much more powerful. The only way this idea could be possible is if they made it something like Ragnarok DS. You can only play with a select ammount of players.
1 Install and 1 play UMD would be enough, install 1,2gb of gamedata on your memorystick and play with the Play UMD. The UMD is required for piracy savety and faster loading.

You said: As most of you know, Sony is completely getting rid of the PSP UMD. . Suggesting that it is aready happening when it's. not. Now before this would happen we would need that to be annouced which I think is stupid. (most don't want it ot happen) and even if did Wow would never be able to go on the PSP. If it wouldn't work on an Xbox 360 or PS3 what makes you think the PSP would be even better?
What makes you think WOW wouldn't be hacked to high hell just like every other online game for PSP?Especially considering the fact that it's an online only game, it would probably be ruined by hackers before it was even released. It's a good idea in theory, but you have to take into account all the pathetic little CFW users who only hack to ruin other people's experiences.Sadly, theres quite a few of them these days..
So with the removal of UMD size is irellevant? What about games that are 1+ Gb? How big is your Memeory Stick?
This idea just plain doesn't work. Wow is perfectly find on the computer. Ex: Mapple story was suppose to come out for the DS. Never came out. While that could have been cool it just wasn't meant to happen.
Control limitations alone makes sure this can't happen.
I agree. WoW is too much to do for a portable handheld. The game will take over almost 5gb's or more with all of its contents.
think about a console version first my friend. a way to connect to pc and mac users from ps3 or xbox360 is much closer than psp2. i want to play that game but i don't like ruining computers with a game that i have to pay for by month.

TESTIFY. Give it a NAME.The makers of WoW know better than to put their code out there on the most-hacked, most-pirated, least-policed system ever produced, not to mention, have you ever actually played WoW? I haven't, but I HAVE seen the controls, and there's no WAY you're gonna make that happen in any sense, with ANY peripherals... a keyboard for the PSP? (oh my) (stop, can't breath) :lol:Whatever you're smokin', put it down. We're talking about a portable game system here.
lol i have over 15 keybindings on my WoW rogue, no way the psp will have atleast 15 buttons + movement buttons, thats just plain stupid!!
I could see an RPG of Warcraft but not as an MMO on the PSP.
...That will never happen my friend.
